The beauty of an elopement lies in privacy and intimacy. It’s the two of you, surrounded by the world’s most breathtaking landscapes or tucked away in a place that holds special meaning. Without a crowd, without a performance, you can lose yourselves in the moment. The day becomes yours.
Couples get to lock eyes, share their vows, and soak in every moment without distractions. Because let's face it, it’s way easier to share your vows when you don’t have 200 people watching!
Even though it was an elopement, Carli and Bradley still wanted to incorporate some traditional wedding elements. They did a first look, had a first dance, and did a cake cutting. It was perfect.
Their love stood out against the beautiful scenery, showing us how special it is to share intimate moments between two people in love. Despite the intense winds and frigid temperatures, they were smiling ear to ear the entire time!
The below photos were captured by Sara of Black Saddle Photography with Jessica Douglas Photography + Matt Besenyodi Photography assisting.
Let’s talk finances. Weddings can be a serious hit to the wallet. You’ve got venues, catering, flowers, and more, all piling up faster than your scheduled date. But elopements? Not so much. When you elope, you skip the line. By choosing a smaller celebration, you can save on costs but get to splurge on what really matters to you—like an epic honeymoon or a talented photographer (hint, hint) to capture every sweet moment.
Plus, with the money you save, you can invest in experiences that will be unforgettable—like a romantic getaway or fun activities that reflect your shared interests. Whether it’s a cooking class in Paris or an adventure hiking in the mountains, your savings can help you create memories that will last a lifetime.
Weddings can bring out all sorts of family drama. Guest lists, seating charts, and a million opinions on how things should go. Eloping is a great way to sidestep all that. When you elope, you get to skip the arguments over who gets an invite and how many vegan options to have. It’s just you, your partner, sometimes with a few guests, and all the love—without the drama.
No hurt feelings, no juggling requests from every family member—it’s pure and simple, just the way love should be. Your day, your way!
There’s a certain freedom in eloping—letting go of expectations, of tradition, of what a wedding “should” be. It’s about creating something that feels like the two of you. An elopement allows you to carve your own path.
There’s no wrong way to elope, and that’s what makes it feel so personal, so true. For so many, a traditional wedding can feel like a production—a perfectly choreographed performance. But eloping is different. It’s about moments. The way your partner looks at you when they see you for the first time. The quiet, unspoken promises you share when no one else is around. These are the moments that make up your day, and they are captured not for show, but for you—to treasure, to remember, to carry with you as you step into this new chapter.
One of the best parts of eloping? You can get married anywhere your heart desires. The world becomes your ceremony space.
Want to say your vows on a windswept beach? How about on top of a mountain? The sky’s the limit when it comes to choosing the perfect spot. Elopements give you the freedom to be spontaneous and adventurous, making your wedding day something truly unforgettable.
And if you’re feeling adventurous, why not make it a secret? You can plan a surprise elopement and share the exciting news with friends and family later. Talk about a wedding story to remember!
At its heart, an elopement is about telling your story. It’s about focusing on what matters—the two of you—and leaving everything else behind. You can create a day that feels 100% like you. The way you choose to celebrate your love becomes a reflection of your journey together. Whether it’s a barefoot beach ceremony, an intimate gathering in the woods, or even a courthouse wedding followed by a fun night out, elopements let you celebrate your love in the way that’s most meaningful to you. It's yours.
And when the day is done, you’ll have the memories of a day that felt completely right. You’ll have the photos—your story, told frame by frame—a testament of your love.
