A New Name, A Fresh Start

One of the coolest parts of the day was their decision to make up a brand-new last name. Emily and Shaun became the Evenings, showing that you don’t have to follow every tradition. Their bright personalities truly shone, making everyone feel like they were part of something truly special. They were the heart and soul of the celebration, keeping spirits high and the love flowing all day long.

A Stunning Venue

The Northridge Inn was the perfect spot for their wedding. With its natural beauty, they added a moody, tropical theme with rich greenery and deep colors. Even the weather seemed to agree it was their day!

Getting Ready

The day started in two cozy chalets. Shaun and the groomsmen prepared in Chalet 23, making sure their suits were just right. Meanwhile, Emily and her bridal party got ready in Chalet 21, wearing colorful, mismatched dresses that matched the wedding’s fun vibe.

Before the ceremony, Emily and Shaun exchanged vow books in a quiet moment, reading each other’s promises. It was a calm and sweet start to an exciting day.

Emily

The Bride

Emily’s wedding day look was a breath of fresh air wrapped in lace. Her floral maxi dress from Toronto’s Sash & Bustle was a masterpiece, with its plunging neckline and layered, flowing fabric that moved with a quiet grace. It was romantic and effortlessly chic.

Maryellen Nault from the Art of Make Up & Hair worked her magic on hair and makeup, styling Emily’s wavy hair into a soft bun, complete with short side bangs that framed her face just right. And yes, there was a crown—because when you’re feeling like royalty, why not show it?

Her bouquet, sourced from Etsy, was a vibrant splash of magenta and red, adding a bold pop against her delicate dress. Even her tattoos played along, peeking through the lace and adding a touch of unique charm. Every detail spoke to who Emily is: light, carefree, and beautifully unforgettable.

WEDDING TREND ALERT: Faux bouquets are really making an impact for 2024 + 2025. Couples are opting to invest in faux florals so they can keep them forever. These aren't your average faux florals, most of the time it's hard to tell if they're real or faux! Keep scrolling to see what the bridesmaids did for their bouquet alternative....

The Groom

Shaun

Shaun’s wedding day style was a bold mix of personality and flair. His royal blue suit from Hamilton’s Charles and Hunt was nothing short of dapper, giving off an effortlessly polished look.

But, of course, Shaun didn’t stop there—he added a blue earring to match his suit and a pair of striking pink glasses that gave a playful nod to his bride’s vibrant bouquet.

The combination was sharp, fun, and completely him. Shaun’s look didn’t just complement the day—it brought an extra layer of charm and quirkiness that perfectly matched his energy.

Behind the Scenes

The fun details included Scottish items, pink heart glasses, homemade beef jerky, a fluffy purse, and unique bouquets alternatives. Every wedding, there's always a struggle with the ties. This group also couldn't decide on how to fold their pocket squares. They had a guide that helped a bit. It always makes for some laughs and fun photos. You could practice before the wedding day, but where's the fun in that?!

Dockside Ceremony

Emily and Shaun’s dockside ceremony was stunning! The white dock made their attire and the bridesmaids’ mismatched dresses pop, perfectly complementing the vibrant floral arch from Etsy. With tall trees framing the scene and the lake shimmering in the background, the ceremony felt both intimate and timeless. The couple have many LGBTQ+ people in their lives, so they wanted to makes sure the pride flag was up during their wedding. The Northridge Inn is a big supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and is a safe space for everyone and anyone. The flag was a beautiful touch and added to the pops of colour in their day! 🏳️‍🌈

Cocktail Hour

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a relaxed cocktail hour. Drinks flowed as everyone mingled and soaked in the surroundings.

During this time, we also captured some casual photos with family and the wedding party. They didn't want stuffy portraits. Instead, they wanted the photos to feel natural and fun!

Casual Portraits

Dinner on the Patio + Open Bar

Dinner was served with delicious food from the Northridge Inn. The reception looked dramatic with its decor and color choices—gold, white, dark blue, and a bold table floral centerpiece by Britta McBride - Britty Blooms.

The evening began with a welcome prosecco toast by the MC to open dinner, setting the stage. Guests laughed, cried, and sometimes choked on their drinks during the funny and heartfelt speeches from the mother of the bride, the mother and brother of the groom, and the maid of honour and best man.

There was an open bar before the fire show where desserts were served enjoyed with the warmth of Northridge bonfire! The couple didn't love the thought of all eyes being on them. So instead of any first dances, they opted to hire fire dancers for everyone to enjoy and be entertained.

Golden Hour + Couple Portraits

Emily and Shaun stepped away for some photos. The golden light was perfect, and they looked so happy walking hand-in-hand. It was really a golden moment. Taking this time to also watch from afar and take a moment to check in with each other is always a good idea. The day flies by. Having this moment to reflect and take a breathe, is so special.

Fire Dancing Fun

Instead of a first dance, Emily and Shaun treated their guests to an unforgettable 45-minute fire show.

The talented performers from NorthFIRE Circus captivated everyone with their dazzling tricks, spinning and twirling flames that lit up the night. Adding a unique touch, violinist EUGENE DRAW also known as DR. DRAW played live music that brought a dynamic energy to the performance. His electrifying violin melodies paired perfectly with the fiery display, creating an incredible fusion of sound and sight.

Guests were spellbound making it a truly unforgettable highlight of the evening. This was no regular wedding reception—it was lit in every sense of the word!

Final Thoughts

From the bright florals by Britty Blooms and Etsy, to the bridesmaids’ dresses in mustard, pink, purple, and green, everything about this wedding was full of life and personality. Even the flower-covered arch added a fun and unique touch.

Emily and Shaun’s wedding was so memorable because it was 100% them. They skipped stiff traditions, embraced their quirks, and celebrated their love in a way that felt real and fun.
